TEJAS COFFEES

Every Thursday night during the semester, The Tejas Club invites the university community to our house for coffee, snacks and a conversation with a notable guest speaker. Past speakers have included Mack Brown, Matthew McConaughey, Tom Herman, Shaka Smart, university presidents, accomplished and talented students, local business leaders, and countless others with fascinating stories to tell. All students are welcome to come shortly before 9:00 pm to enjoy the company of Tejas members and the wisdom of our guests.

TEXAS INDEPENDENCE DAY

Every year, the club celebrates Texas Independence Day on March 2nd. Guests, administrators, faculty and senior student leaders enjoy a Breakfast of the First Class, prepared by Tejas members. Our guests hear traditional songs from the Tejas Quartet and a history of the university’s connection to Texas Independence Day traditionally given by Honorary Tejas Member, Dr. Margaret C. Berry, and now delivered in her memory. After the event concludes, Members have been known to distribute yellow roses on campus.

BOB PEES CRAWFISH BOIL

One of the club’s favorite events is our annual crawfish boil, held in honor of a particularly spirited member from long ago. Guests, dressed entirely in white, are invited for an afternoon of crawfish and croquet on the Tejas lawn every Spring. Past entertainment has included string quartets and miniature horses.

In furtherance of The Tejas Club’s Suicide Prevention philanthropy, The Tejas Club and Tejas Foundation proudly host an annual golf tournament each fall in honor of fallen member Robert McCurdy. A member of the club in the late 2000’s, Bobby’s tragic death inspired the Club to take up a mission of suicide prevention. Years later, this tournament serves as a reminder of the great man that Robert was, and also supports the ongoing efforts of The Tejas Club to offer support to those in need and prevent similar tragedy

WIFFLEBALL TOURNAMENT

Located in such a prime location in West Campus, the Tejas Club takes full advantage of this and the amazing Spring weather to showcase its annual Wiffleball Tournament. A simple pastime to some, wiffleball is taken very seriously by Tejas members and the winner of the annual tournament receives bragging rights.
